MANCHESTER UNITED lost to Wrexham in a huge pre-season friendly for the Snapdragon Cup.

was injured in the first 20 minutes after colliding with United's goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, forcing Wrexham's forward out of the game.

But minutes later, the Red Dragons hammered in their first of the night thanks to Elliott Lee. Soon after, Aaron Hayden doubled the side's lead with a header.

Just seconds before the half, United got one back, heading into the break down one.

To start the second half, Daniel Gore picked up a red card for the Red Devils. Following the sending-off, Wrexham tapped in their third of the night off Sam Dalby's boot.

This was enough to seal the win and for Wrexham to claim their first-ever Snapdragon Cup.

It's been a memorable tour of the States for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's newly-promoted Wrexham -- and tonight was no different.

  • Feeling Wrexed

Wrexham fans have been left furious with tickets to their clash versus Walsall sold out - but only to local fans.

The club, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, face The Saddlers at home on August 15.

It is their second home match back in League Two following last season's promotion from the National League.

And in a potentially controversial move, the clash has been deemed "sold out for UK members".

But there "are a small number of International Members Tickets still available for the game.”

Some fans are concerned the local community is being pushed aside for global success.

One said: "When a Wrexham FC Member living 9 miles away is unable to purchase a ticket but someone living 1000+ miles away may still purchase one then this should not be something you, as a club, should be pleased with."

  • Bishop to leave United

Man Utd have reportedly agreed a deal to sell Nathan Bishop with him at the centre of controversy after injury Paul Mullin.

Bishop was booed by fans during yesterday’s pre-season friendly after leaving Mullin with a punctured lung.

The 23-year-old keeper is set to join Sunderland and be their No2 next season with a deal close to being agreed before the incident in the pre-season clash.

  • Let's get physical

Erik ten Hag believes his youngsters would have benefited from playing a senior side.

He explained: "A physical match? That's how it is in top-flight football. So the players have to get used to that kind of thing.

"You don't see that in youth football, it's senior football, men and it's really good that they have this experience."

  • How long could Mullin be injured for?

It is currently unclear how long Paul Mullin will be sidelined for after heading to hospital with a punctured lung.

Reports suggest the striker will have to undergo rehab in the US as flying is not allowed for six weeks after the injury.

It is thought the injury could heal in four to eight weeks depending on the severity.

  • Red mist

Man Utd are furious with Wrexham following Phil Parkinson’s raging attack on Nathan Bishop.

The Red Dragons’ manager unleashed a tirade after the 23-year-old goalkeeper collided with Paul Mullin and injured him in their pre-season clash in San Diego.

United are now fearful Parkinson’s comments will trigger social media abuse for Bishop – especially if Mullin goes on to miss a significant chunk of the season.

Bishop has apologised for the incident and was jeered by fans in the stadium.

Parkinson said: “I’m fuming about it, I’ve got to be honest with you. It was a clumsy, reckless, challenge in a pre-season game and I’m not happy with it at all.

“I haven’t seen the goalie and he’s probably best steering clear of us.”

  • Let's do a Luton

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson wants his side to emulate Luton and climb all the way up to the Premier League.

Luton have risen from non-league to the top-flight in 15 years and the Welsh side view them as an inspiration.

Parkinson said: "I think that when you look at teams like Luton who go up, you've got to say why not?

"You have [a chance] because Luton were in this position, so I don't think it's a case of us getting carried away with it as ourselves."

  • Lay down the law

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson had made it clear ahead of the game that he wanted the players to experience America but not the bars - despite Foster and some team-mates being denied entry to a bar.

Parkinson said: “We've tried to give the lads an experience everywhere we’ve been.

“They had a coach trip around Hollywood and Beverly Hills. We don’t want the lads to come on this trip, be in the hotel and say ‘lads, you’ve just got to sleep’.

“We’ve tried to let them go out into the local area - not the bars, I hasten to add - but the local areas, to get a feel for everything.”

  • Foster denied bar entry

Ben Foster could be in hot water with Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson after hitting the town 24 hours before facing Manchester United.

Foster started in goal for Wrexham who beat the Red Devils second string side 3-1 in San Diego.

But what the manager may not have known was his number one was defying his orders not to go out to bars.

Goalkeeper Foster and three others were actually denied entry into the Barley Mash sports bar in the popular Gaslamp quarter on Monday night.

The doorman at the bar said they were refused entry for their "attitude" after being asked for their ID.

That was at 9.30pm less than 24 hours before Foster played the first half against his former club at the Snapdragon Stadium.

  • Learning curve

Man Utd Under-21 boss Travis Binnion believes the match against Wrexham will be a huge learning curve for his youngsters.

He said: "A few decisions weren't in our favour, but we didn't play well enough. In the first half we didn't take advantage of the ball enough.

"Both goals could have been avoided. We have a lot to learn tonight."

  • United defend Bishop

United U21 boss Travis Binnion leapt to Bishop’s defence after injuring Paul Mullin, insisting the 23-year-old is sorry and didn’t mean to cause injury.

Binnion said: “It’s part and parcel of the game, nobody wants to see anyone get injured.

“He’s made an honest challenge, he’s come off worse. He’s already reached out to him.

“Booing him, it is what it is. He’s tried to reach out. He’s a great lad Bish, he hasn’t got a bad bone in his body.”

  • Gore’s early bath

Dan Gore was sent off just two minutes into the second half as Manchester United lost 3-1 to Wrexham last night.

Gore, who has impressed during pre-season, took the armband aged just 18 as United fielded an Under-21 side.

He flew into a tackle on Wrexham ace Andy Cannon and was sent off, although replays suggested that he may have been unlucky.

Fans certainly felt that way, with many taking to social media to slam the decision.

One wrote of the red card: “That feels pretty reactionary, especially on the replay.”

While a second tweeted: “Never a red card in a million years.”

  • Wrexham fans boo wrong player

Wrexham fans ended up booing the WRONG Manchester United player after Paul Mullin’s horror injury.

And even the stadium announcer was forced to step in as the Red Devils lost 3-1 in America.

Mullin suffered a punctured lung after a challenge by United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, who was subsequently booed.

But his half-time replacement Radek Vitek continued to be booed by fans despite having no involvement in the incident.

  • McElhenney "humbled" by US experience

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has revealed he has been humbled by the support shown to his club in the US.

His Red Dragons beat the Red Devils but he was blown away before he even got to the stadium.

He told MUTV: “We're just so humbled by this entire experience, I mean, from the moment we landed.

“It took us about four hours to drive from Los Angeles. We sat in the traffic and I wasn't sure what to expect. And wow, I mean, this is just an incredible experience.

“You see thousands of people here and they're all wearing red. So we can't say for sure who they are rooting for.”

  • Ten Hag shares Wrexham disappointment

Erik ten Hag has urged his youthful Manchester United XI to learn from a difficult outing against Wrexham in California.

It was the first defeat of our pre-season thus far, with United fielding an entirely fledgling line-up barring the inclusion of the experienced Jonny Evans.

Ten Hag said to MUTV after the game: “We’re disappointed with ourselves.

“The way we played in the first half was a little bit erratic to the structure.

“We had some other objective that it was not [just] the result, but with young players we have to learn from it and I’m sure they will do.”

  • Paul Mullin shares update

Wrexham striker Paul Mullin has shared an update from hospital after suffering a punctured lung.

He thanked fans for the support he received in the caption of his hospital bed selfie.

Mullin wrote: "Thank you for all your messages! All good here."

  • Parkinson fumes at United star

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson said Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop should "steer clear" of him after Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung.

He said: "It’s a clumsy challenge from the goalkeeper, I’m disappointed with that. It should have been a straight red. If it’s not denying a goalscoring opportunity, it’s still a dangerous challenge.

"So if you add the two scenarios together he should have been off the pitch. It’s a dangerous challenge and obviously, Paul Mullin is our talisman.

"I’m fuming about it, I’ve got to be honest with you. It was a clumsy, reckless, challenge in a pre-season game and I’m not happy with it at all.

"I haven’t seen the goalie and he’s probably best steering clear of us for the time being because we’re not very happy."

  • Bishop apologises for Mullin challenge

Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop has apologised to Paul Mullin after his challenge left the striker with a punctured lung.

He tweeted: "Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to
    @PMullin7.

"A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with 0 malicious intent at all! Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!"
