BAYERN MUNICH have staged peace talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to ensure their bid to land Harry Kane has not been wrecked.

Red-faced Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen has telephoned Levy to smooth over any issues after a club legend spoke out about the Kane situation.

The Bundesliga giants are increasingly confident of landing the England captain, believing he is keen to join.

Bayern have failed in two attempts to land the 29-year-old and they were left embarrassed and surprised when honorary president Uli Hoeness claimed he was confident Kane would join.

Bayern chief Dreesen met Levy in London on Thursday and wanted to ensure that both clubs remained on good terms and feared Levy would have been fuming over the Hoeness comments.

At the weekend, Hoeness said: “Harry Kane has clearly signalled in all conversations that his decision stands - and if he keeps to his word, then we'll get him, because then Tottenham will have to buckle.

“Kane wants to play internationally and luckily for us Tottenham will not be active internationally next year."

Before that outburst, Dreesen had insisted it was better to treat other teams with respect.

He said: "If you treat each other kindly, you get the best results."

There is still no agreement with Spurs and Bayern with Levy still hoping the striker stays.

Kane was in pre-season action for Spurs on Tuesday.

The striker wore the captain's armband as Ange Postecoglou's side took on West Ham in Perth.

Spurs trailed 2-0 at half-time, with Kane substituted for Richarlison for the second 45.

Postecoglou's men levelled after goals by Giovani Lo Celso and Destiny Udogie.

But Gianluca Scamacca profited on some loose defending to fire the Hammers to a 3-2 victory.
