  • That's all from us

Verstappen romped to a seventh win in a row to see Red Bull break the record for most wins in a row.

After a disastrous start for Hamilton, he ended up in fourth, while team-mate Russell recovered to P6 after his qualifying nightmare.

Norris was up to his usual antics after the race as he broke Verstappen's trophy with his champagne ritual following his P2 finish, with Piastri taking home P5.

Ferrari had another unremarkable weekend with P7 and P8 finishes with Aston Martin completing the points in P9 and P10.

Thank you for staying with us this afternoon.

We'll have Belgium up next, and we hope you will join us for then as well.

  • 'Work to do'

Hamilton shared Wolff's desire to improve going forward.

Speaking after the race, he told Sky Sports: "The initial getaway wasn't the worst I've ever had but it obviously wasn't as good as Max's.

"[I] Had a bit of wheelspin, and obviously Max was on the inside and run me wide and I got done by the two McLarens, so definitely not a great start - kind of reminiscent of 2015 when I fell back from first.

"After that I just didn't have the pace to keep up with the guys, the balance of the car was pretty awful in that first stint.

"I had a lot of understeer, snap of oversteer through corners and I just couldn't keep up with them. And bit by bit as we got through the next couple of stints the car started to become more drivable.

"But I'm going to take the positives from yesterday, amazing from the team to get to where we were and to beat everybody in qualifying was really spectacular for us and while it shows we don't have the best car it was an incredible lap.

"We have a lot of work to do, it looks like we are a long way from the Red Bull in a race and now we are behind the McLaren but we just got to keep pushing."

  • Red Bull upgrade impact

As if they needed to be any quicker.

Verstappen's +33.7 second win today was the biggest margin of the season so far.

The Bulls brought upgrades to the Hungaroring which were rumoured to make them two tenths quicker.

While qualifying was far from ideal, the race was routine for them with Perez also recovering to P3.

  • Wolff on Mercedes performance

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has insisted the team will "flight back" after a frustrating day in Hungary.

Hamilton and Russell scored P4 and P6 finishes but ultimately could have been better had Mercedes pace been stronger early on and had they not "screwed up" with Russell in qualifying.

He said: "Yesterday was a mega Lewis lap but we screwed it up with George in qualifying.

"I think we had the second quickest car today but we didn’t monetise on it and ultimately Verstappen won.

"The start played a role but that can happen, we brought the tyres in maybe too carefully. We were missing at the end but I think we had it within the car.

"We are going to fight back and win races and championships but you’ve seen the pace Verstappen and Red Bull have. It’s like a field of F2 cars against their F1 car."

  • So what's next?

After yet another Verstappen win in Hungary, F1 will be heading to Belgium for round 13.

Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most iconic tracks on the calendar but could be set to hold its final F1 race this year with its contract expiring after this year.

And after next weekend's race, F1 will be going on its summer break before returning at the end of August in the Netherlands.

  • 'Lewis not done yet'

Rosberg jumped to the defence of former team-mate Hamilton after Brundle appeared to suggest the Mercedes driver was "handing over the baton" to Norris.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Saturday, Brundle said: "You wonder if that's the handing over of the baton of the British driver's in Formula One because Lando had that one covered."

In response, Rosberg - who had a huge fallout with Hamilton when the pair were fighting for the championship in 2016 - clapped back: "Martin please slow down.

    "Lewis is not done yet, he was first in FP3 come on.";

    Oh Lando whatever next...

Verstappen is a good sport about his trophy being broken, sharing a laugh with Norris on the podium after realising what happened.

It seems Norris may need to be a little more careful with his podium ritual in the future.

  • Ocon breaks silence

Ocon has broken his silence after heading to the medical centre following his early retirement from the race.

Taking to Twitter, the 2021 race winner said: "Unlucky. Frustrating. Big impact on the crash but glad we are both ok.

"We regroup and come back next week."

The Alpine driver was forced to retire after his seat cracked IN TWO as a result of the impact of the crash with Zhou.

  • Ricciardo solid on return

Ricciardo went largely under the radar in Hungary but claimed a P13 finish on his return.

It also saw him beat team-mate Tsunoda by two spots.

  • Verstappen trophy falls into pieces

Verstappen may have won the race but it seems he will need a replacement trophy after his broke into pieces.

Fan footage appeared to show Norris smashing his champagne bottle onto the top step of the podium, causing Verstappen's trophy to fall off and smash into multiple pieces.

  • Verstappen on his race

Yeah, we had finally a really good start. Very happy with that we’ve been working on it a bit. then I knew of course when I had the inside that corner was mine [vs Hamilton]. It was just late on the brakes, heavy car, luckily it all worked out well and basically from there I could do my race and today the car was really, really quick.

I think over one lap this weekend it was a bit of a struggle but maybe it was probably a good thing for today. We could look after the tyre wear and that’s why we could create such a gap.

For the team, 12 wins in a row is just incredible. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going for a long time. It’s always good to look into yesterday for example to keep pushing and always wanting to do better.
