Man Utd fans convinced they’re winning the Premier League title this season due to bizarre stat involving Mason Mount

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are upbeat about the possibility of ending their wait for a Premier League title following the emergence of a stat involving new signing Mason Mount.

The Red Devils confirmed the arrival of England international Mount, 24, on Wednesday as he sealed a £60million transfer from Chelsea.

He has been given the No7 shirt to wear at Old Trafford - a number vacant since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo last season.

And the move symbolises something positive for the Man Utd faithful.

This is because the last English player to wear the No7 for the club was Michael Owen during the 2010/11 season.

During that campaign, the striker registered just five goals in 17 games.

But what United supporters are taking away from it is that they lifted the Premier League title at the end of the season.

They also reached a Champions League final, before losing 3-1 to Barcelona at Wembley.

And Red Devils fans are keen to attribute that success to the presence of an English No7.

In response to the stat, one social media said: "So you’re saying we have a chance."

Another added: "What are you saying to me right now?"

A third replied: "I waited for moments like this."

And a fourth simply responded: "I believe."

Mount, who registered 33 goals and 37 assists in 195 games for Chelsea, becomes Erik ten Hag's first signing of the summer.

United are also being linked with moves for Inter Milan keeper Andre Onana and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
