Brit No1 Katie Boulter overcomes eco idiot protest and day’s delay to ease into Wimbledon second round in straight sets

KATIE BOULTER overcame the obstacles from hell to progress into the second round of Wimbledon.

The Brit No 1’s opener had it all - from rain showers and Kate Middleton to a Just Stop Oil protest and a bee.

Tuesday’s match had been suspended due to rain with her trailing 6-5 to Australia’s Daria Saville in the first set in front of the Princess of Wales.

But Leicster-born Boulter returned with ferocity to nose the match into a tie-break which she was losing 4-2 before an eco-protester stole the show.

The protester stormed on to the court and unleashed orange confetti and a Wimbledon jigsaw before he was dragged away by security.

Both players helped the ball boys and girls clear up the debris before a leaf blower saved the day.

It seemed the chaos gave Boulter the kick up the backside that she needed as she went on to wallop Saville 7-4 in the tie-break.

The 26-year-old then mopped up the second set 6-2 in front of boyfriend and Australian tennis player Alex De Minaur who featured on Court 18 later on in the evening.

It comes just days after England cricket star Jonny Bairstow carried an eco-yob off the pitch at Lord’s.

Earlier today tennis fans cheered as two other protesters were yanked off the court after their idiotic display and arrested.

Deborah Wilde, 68, and Simon Milner-Edwards, 66, raced onto Court 18 from the stands this afternoon, halting the match.

Police then rushed onto the court and the eco-idiots were dragged from the turf.

Their idiocy comes just a day after Princess Kate attended the tournament - and was spotted sharing a joke with tennis legend Roger Federer near the same court.

Sho Shimabukuro and Grigor Dimitrov were today locked in a tense battle when the idiots disrupted it.

The protesting pair poured the mess on the court before the man sat cross-legged in front of the net, and the woman continued walking aimlessly around the court.

Their idiocy saw play quickly suspended, with the men's singles match called off not long after 2pm.

Cops were seen racing onto the turf and the protesters were quickly dragged off, with crowds heard loudly booing them.
