He will say goodbye to British shores on Champion's Day at Ascot in October, before heading overseas to conclude his career.

The Breeders' Cup will be first on that agenda, with a final attempt to win the Melbourne Cup ending his illustrious tenure at the top of the sport.

The 52-year-old has also been clearing out his Newmarket home - which will be available to rent from £15,000 a month - in preparation for retirement and is planning to auction off plenty of his historic items.

His jockey scales, a saddle, boots and photographs are all part of the 126-strong online auction list.

Dettori won the Epsom Oaks on Soul Sister earlier this year and his trophy is going up for auction.

Should he fail to win the St Leger later this year, you could potentially own his final Classic trophy.

Some of the proceeds will go to charity, but Dettori is also planning to help his daughter Ella, who is getting married next year.

Ella competed in the 2021 Magnolia Cup at Glorious Goodwood aged just 19 and has been regularly seen on the racecourse.

Dettori, who is banned from this weekend's big Coral-Eclipse race at Sandown, said: "We’re scaling down and I’ve got so much stuff, we thought we might as well just auction it.

“I didn’t realise because they end up in drawers, in cupboards, in the cellar, I mean they’re all over the place.

“Now we’re clearing up a lot of stuff, we didn’t realise how much accumulated in so many years.”

Dettori is planning to travel the world post retirement but has said he won't be far away from racing.

The charismatic Italian would be a shoe-in for TV and has been touted to be on this year's I'm A Celebrity Cast.

He added: “It’s going to be sad when I get to the end of the season but at the moment I’m not thinking about it.

“I’m trying to do good and trying to go through my last year in a happy fashion.”
