According to , Chelsea have informed Brighton that they have no intention meeting The Seagulls’ asking price for Caicedo.

It has been reported that the South coast club are seeking a fee in the region of £80million for their star midfielder.

But with increasing financial pressure on Chelsea after their mega-bucks January transfer window, it could be hard for them to afford the 21-year-old.

The Blue’s stance could mean that Man United are able to enter the frame as they shift their attention away from Mason Mount.

The Red Devils have had three bids for Mount knocked back by Chelsea and are reportedly looking at Caicedo as a different option.

It is said that United have held talks with Caicedo’s representatives as they could look to make the most of Chelsea’s reluctancy to pay Brighton’s asking price.

Caicedo featured 37 times for Brighton in the Premier League last season and was a huge part of Roberto De Zerbi’s side which secured Europa League football.

Man United are also rumoured to be interested in West Ham captain Declan Rice, but would face a tough battle to sign the England star.
