Real Madrid forced to delete tweet with racist slur on Vinicius Jr video after new initiative in horrifically backfires

REAL MADRID had to quickly delete a tweet yesterday that contained a racist handle after a post of Vinicius Junior’s 2022 Champions League winning goal backfired.

The LaLiga side launched an initiative to promote their new app and vowed to tag the handles of supporters in a personalised post dedicated to the Brazilian’s famous matchwinner against Liverpool.

But it seems that the club’s social media chiefs used an automatic algorithm designed to pick out random fans that had liked a specific post.

And that was a move that led to one of the users chosen in the tweet containing a racist handle in their name on the social media app.

Madrid, who have just completed the loan signing of Joselu on the back on Jude Bellingham’s £115m arrival, posted the clip of the goal along with the vile handle in it.

But they quickly took it down around ten minutes later.

Madrid still appear to be publishing clips of Vinicius' goal and tagging fan accounts but they also made another apparent blunder by including a user named “ElonOut” - which is in reference to Twitter's billionaire CEO Elon Musk - in another tweet featured.

This incident comes just days after Vinicius Junior’s trusted adviser and friend Felipe Silva was allegedly racially abused ahead of Brazil’s latest clash.

The Samba Boys took on Guinea on Saturday and triumphed 4-1 in a match that was actually billed as an anti-racism friendly.

Silva was targeted by a security guard as he entered Espanyol's stadium in Barcelona where the game was played.

He was allegedly approached by the guard, who then pulled out a banana and pointed at him.

The man was then reported to have said: “Hands up, this is my gun for you.”

A clip of the incident has since circulated on social media that shows Silva and his entourage confronting a group of security staff.

Brazil won thanks to goals from Joelinton, Rodrygo, Eder Militao, and Vinicius but it still remains to be seen whether the incident will be investigated.

Vinicius took to Twitter after the match and wrote: “While I was playing with the already historic black shirt and getting emotional, my friend was humiliated and mocked at the entrance to the stadium.

“The treatment was sad, at all times they doubted the surreal scene that happened.

“Backstage is disgusting. But to make everything public, I ask those responsible: where are the security camera footage?”

Vinicius has repeatedly suffered racist abuse in Spain.

The Real Madrid star received a huge outpour of support after he was targeted by Valencia fans during a league match in May.
