In the 2022-23 competition, Michael Smith won a thriller to take the crown, beating Michael van Gerwen 7-4 to deny the Dutch master a fourth world title.

Smith hit an epic nine-darter during his clash with Van Gerwen, 34, who has not won the tournament since 2019.

Current world No 1 Smith is hoping he can defend his title, and all the usual suspects will be in the frame to win the coveted prize in London at the start of 2024.

Players like Gary Anderson and Gerwyn Price are also still in the frame to pick up Darts' biggest prize.

How much beer do the Ally Pally crowds get through?

And it's estimated that a whopping half a million pints of lager will be drunk in that time.
