He was then a free agent for the first half of the 2022/23 campaign, before penning a deal with Brazilian club Gremio in December.

Since then, he has contributed 10 goals and five assists in 21 appearances.

But his most eye-catching moment came in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday.

Suarez and Co trailed 1-0 at home in the first leg of their round of 16 tie against Cruzeiro when the ex-Liverpool and Barcelona man produced a moment of magic.

He received the ball 25 yards from goal, took one touch to compose himself and arrowed a sensational effort into the top corner with the outside of his right boot.

And it left people in awe on social media.

One said: "I am taking this version of Suarez over prime [Karim] Benzema."

Another added: "Better than Cristiano Ronaldo."

Suarez joined Liverpool from Ajax in 2011 and went on to register 111 goals and 68 assists in 133 games for the club.

He left Anfield for Barcelona in a £75million deal in 2014 and would go on to contribute 195 goals and 113 assists in 283 matches.

He joined Atletico in 2020 and guided them to the LaLiga title in his first campaign.
