Newcastle vs Brighton betting preview
It's third vs sixth in the North East tonight with European football on the line.
Newcastle have the chance to kick four points clear of Liverpool with two games to go if they win tonight.
Eddie Howe's men have Leicester at home and a trip to Chelsea to come, meaning three points here SHOULD more or less clinch their Champions League involvement next year.
Of course, it's never as easy as that. As has been shown with dropping points in their last two games.
Last week's draw at Leeds will have been a tough pill to swallow having conceded with 10 minutes to go, but they're still in pole position for a top four spot.
Their main issue now is the incredible form of opponents Brighton.
The Seagulls ran out 3-0 winners at Arsenal in a superb display at the Emirates last weekend, especially off the back of a shocker at home to Everton the week before.
Brighton are playing catch up with their league games at the minute and could move four points behind Liverpool in fifth and with a game in hand if they win tonight.
Last Sunday's performance should give them plenty of hope, though Newcastle do come into this as the bookies' favourites.
It was a goalless draw when they last met on match day two and a tight game is most certainly on the cards here.
Fergie's time
Evan Ferguson led the line perfectly for Brighton last weekend and is likely to do so again here - unless Roberto De Zerbi opts for Danny Welbeck.
Ferguson's performance up against Gabriel shows he can bully even the biggest of centre halves and probably has the measure of Fabian Schar and Sven Botman.
Will get chances if he starts and his aerial power could pay dividends if the service is right.
Two shots on target isn't out of the question at decent enough odds.
Tripp you up
Kieran Trippier's attacking output might have dried up a bit in recent weeks but it's his defensive side which will need to be on point later.
Up against Japanese star Kaoru Mitoma, Trippier will have his one-v-one defending tested and will know he doesn't have the pace to get back in if he's caught out.
That will force him to go tight and make tackles high up, and the odds are pretty fair for that.
Over 2 tackles at 6/5 is generous and wouldn't put you off over 4 at 6/1. But we'll split that pair.
Yellow in the middle
It's sure to be a huge midfield battle with the Brazilian pair of Jeolinton and star pal Bruno Guimaraes to do battle with a Brighton three.
Moises Caicedo could come back in there for Brighton but might again be used at right back.
Either way, the Brighton football will see a forceful press from the Magpies duo and Joelinton (12 yellows in the league) and Bruno (5 in the league) aren't shy of putting their foots in.
Bruno's odds are slightly better at 5/2 but Joelinton yellow the safer bet.
