Italy star Ciro Immobile in horror smash after SUV collides with tram with his kids inside car in Rome
ITALY football star Ciro Immobile could face two weeks off the pitch after suffering spine trauma in a horror crash.
The Lazio captain, 33, was driving with his two daughters in when a tram ploughed into his car on Sunday morning.
Witnesses claim the tram went through a red light before hitting Immobile's Land Rover SUV.
Shocking pictures show the front of his car completely destroyed following the crash close to the Stadio Olimpico, Lazio's home ground.
He was taken to hospital and suffered injuries to his spine and rib.
It is understood Immobile - who has 55 caps for Italy - was travelling with his two daughters.

Immobile told AGTW at the scene: "The tram ran a red light.
"Luckily I'm fine, my arm just hurts a little."
But doctors say the footballer could be out for the next fortnight - missing clashes with Turin and Inter, reports
A spokesman for Lazio said: "The medical staff of SS Lazio announces that following a road accident, the footballer Ciro Immobile suffered a distortion trauma of the spine and a compound fracture of the right XI rib.

"The conditions are currently good.
"The footballer remains under observation in the emergency medicine department directed by Professor Francesco Franceschi of the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Hospital in Rome."
The tram derailed during the crash, and the driver was taken to hospital along with five passengers.
Immobile captains Serie A club Lazio and made his debut for Italy's national team in 2014.
He started out his career at Sorrento before joining Juventus in 2009 before completing stints at Torino, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.
The forward moved to Lazio and bagged the European Golden Shoe for the 2019-20 season - given to the top scorer in Europe.
Immobile is Lazio's all-time highest goalscorer and has scored 194 goals in his 289 appearances for the club.
On Friday evening netted the ball from the penalty spot in the club's 3-1 win over Spezia on Friday evening.
He was part of the Italian national team who scooped the UEFA European Championships title in 2020.

Police are investigating the incident.
