Football punter wins over £87k from £5 stake after William Hill pay out EXTRA £29k
A LUCKY William Hill punter was celebrating to the tune of £87,000 after landing a sensational Saturday acca.
What's more, the punter's 11,662/1 nine-fold was boosted, earning a whopping £29,000 more than it would have otherwise!
As a result, the £58,312 return they would have landed - which is still extraordinary - turned into £87,247.12.
With the lower league in England enjoying a rare Saturday off with Good Friday and Easter Monday games, punters up and down the land were left with Premier League football and games in Scotland to make up their accas.
That's exactly what this punter did, selecting Celtic to win the Old Firm against Rangers in the early kick-off and then eight more games across the two countries.
With the Hoops duly obliging at 4/6, it was onto the rest.
Amongst them was just ONE selection at odds-on, which was Aberdeen to beat Kilmarnock at home at 10/11. Generous odds given Killie's woeful away form.
Elsewhere north of the border, St Mirren to beat Hearts at Tynecastle was a great call, even with Hearts' recent record.
That win at 3/1 really boosted the odds - and cost Jambos boss Robbie Neilson his job.
The winning bet
Punter's 11/662 selections
- Wolves v Chelsea (29/10)
- Leicester v Bournemouth (15/4)
- Newcastle v Brentford (5/4)
- Celtic v Rangers (4/6)
- Aberdeen v Kilmarnock (10/11)
- Hearts v St Mirren (3/1)
- Motherwell v Livingston (23/20)
- St Johnston v Ross County (12/5)
- Alloa v Queen Of The South (2/1)
The form side Motherwell beat Livingston at odds of 23/20, Ross County got a much-needed win at 12/5 and in League One, Queen of the South won away at Alloa at 2/1.
That leaves just three selections from the Premier League - and they were tight encounters.
The lucky punter opted for Wolves to beat Frank Lampard's Chelsea at Molineux.
In a story of Chelsea's season so far, they couldn't find the back of the net and just a sensational Matheus Nunes strike proved to be the difference there.
Newcastle endured a topsy-turvy afternoon and came from behind at Brentford before eventually prevailing 2-1 to keep their top four hopes well and truly alive.
Lastly, managerless Leicester were beaten 2-0 at home to Bournemouth to crank the pressure up on them in the relegation fight, with this bettor selecting the Cherries at a cool 15/4 to wrap up a quite remarkable punt.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “You’ve got to take your hat off when these huge accumulators come in and this football selection is no different.
“You can never be too confident when you pick nine teams to win, but after they all obliged across leagues in England and Scotland, the punter’s £5 bet had won them over £87k!”
