However, the club icon is to be ready to help the Blues on a short term basis after the sacking of Graham Potter.

Lampard has agreed a deal in principle to take charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit until the end of the season.

The 44-year-old played for the club for over a decade, winning everything on offer.

After retiring, he then was the head coach at the club after a spell at Derby until he was sacked in 2021.
