LIONEL MESSI'S immediate future remains up in the air after his PSG exit was confirmed.

However, it looks like it could become a bit clearer shortly, with slashing the odds of David Beckham's Inter Miami being his next destination.

BETFAIR:

In fact, they're now odds on at 17/20 to sign Messi this summer.

Messi, 35, was strongly linked with a PSG exit and return to Barcelona with a couple of months left of the campaign.

A reunion with Xavi at Barca has been mentioned time and again despite Barca's financial issues, with club chiefs meeting with Messi's father recently in the hope of thrashing out a deal.

But there still looks some way to go if that move was to ever materialise, even with a green light from La Liga and it remains to be seen if something can be done.

It's understood a return to the Camp Nou is Messi's preference at this stage.

But it's Inter Miami who lead the way in the betting at 17/20 - in from 7/2.

Lionel Messi next club

Betfair odds

  • Inter Miami 17/20 (was 7/2)
  • Barcelona 6/4 (was 7/10)
  • Any Saudi Pro League side 2/1
  • Man City 20/1
  • Not to sign for any club 20/1
  • Newell’s Old Boys 33/1
  • Chelsea 33/1

BETFAIR:

Barca do come next at 6/4 having been as short at 7/10 earlier this week.

A move to the Saudi Pro League - where several of Europe's top stars are heading this summer - is now a 2/1 shot.

Messi is an ambassador for the country and could be persuaded to play football there, though has been offered mega money to move there in the past.

Messi to NOT sign or agree a contract with any other club is then a surprise inclusion at 20/1, with a Pep Guardiola reunion at Manchester City the same price.

Argentine side Newell's Old Boys are 33/1, alongside Chelsea at the same price.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Odds on Lionel Messi joining Inter Miami have been slashed to 17/20 from 7/2, making the MLS club the new favourites to sign the forward.

"Despite reports linking Messi with a return to the Nou Camp, Barcelona have drifted to 6/4 from 7/10 to bring him back.

"Meanwhile, a sensational reunion with Pep Guardiola at Man City is 20/1.”
