Arsenal vs Fulham betting tips

Premier Leaders Arsenal are back in action against their London rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The Gunners haven't had the difficulty of juggling Thursday/Sunday football since the group stages of the Europa League in early November.

But those days are over with just 72 hours to recover from their hard-fought 2-2 draw with Sporting Lisbon at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.

Mikel Arteta made six changes for the round of 16 clash but still fielded several key players with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Granit Xhaka playing the full 90 minutes.

The Europa League isn't ideal when chasing a first Premier League title since 2003-04.

A showdown with Fulham also isn't ideal when attempting to protect a five-point advantage over Manchester City.

City beat Crystal Palace late on yesterday to pull within two points, but Arsenal can retain their five point lead wit a win today.

The Cottagers are flying high in seventh position, though, and have only suffered one defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions.

On the road…

Though enjoying a terrific season, Fulham have struggled against Arsenal in recent years.

Fulham are winless in nine Premier League meetings with the Gunners, and last tasted victory in this fixture back in January 2012.

They've lost all four against Arsenal at Craven Cottage during that run by an aggregate score of 12-2.

Arteta's side have taken 31 points on the road this season and conceded just nine in 13 fixtures -- that's comfortably the best record in the division and seven more than Manchester City.

In fact, Arsenal have won all four of their away Premier League London derbies this season by an aggregate score of 8-0.

Fulham also have the unwanted habit of falling short when playing the big boys at home. They have failed to beat any side that started the match above them in the table (D1, L3)

  • Our tip:

Marvellous Martinelli…

Fulham will have to be alert to the dangers of Arsenal's electric Gabriel Martinelli.

It could be argued that the arrival of Leandro Trossard has sparked the Brazilian back into life.

Martinelli, 21, has registered four goals in his last five appearances in all competitions, and had two efforts on target in the reverse fixture.

He could again be used to spearhead the Arsenal attack, and that could be good news with Fulham conceding the third most chances from central positions.

Yellow warning…

There could be a bit of bite to this clash on Sunday with plenty at stake and 12 cautions dished out in the last three meetings between these sides.

Referee David Coote is in charge for this contest, and he's no stranger to a yellow card having shown NINE in the Carabao Cup final and a further NINE at Stamford Bridge in the game before that.

He also reached for seven cautions and a red when London rivals Chelsea visit Fulham in January, including one for our pick Antonee Robinson.

Robinson will have the difficult assignment of marking Bukayo Saka, who is the second-most fouled player in the division this season.
