And he sent fans into overdrive this week by revealing it is his "dream" to play in the Premier League.

He has also attracted attention from Chelsea and Arsenal but United could offer him something extra.

Osimhen could be given the number nine jersey in the summer, with current occupier Anthony Martial possibly on his way out.

United are reportedly open to selling Martial, who left the club on loan to Sevilla last season.

He has also been plagued by injuries this season though is approaching full fitness after overcoming a hip problem he picked up last month.

Erik ten Hag still has faith Martial can deliver but he has made no secret of his desire for United to being in a new frontman.

Ten Hag said of the Frenchman: "I’m sure a striker like he is will improve our team.

"You always need different qualities in a squad to be technical in games and between games, see what you need, what the games need, but Martial can create something with his movements, his dealing with the ball, his smartness and his finishing."
