Billionaire Jahm Najafi to target Everton takeover after meeting Daniel Levy for first time

US BILLIONAIRE Jahm Najafi is targeting Everton as a takeover target — despite meeting Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Najafi, who is an owner of the Phoenix Suns NBA outfit and vice-chairman of the McLaren F1 team, was said to be eyeing up a £3.1billion bid for Spurs.

That link grew when Iranian-born Najafi was pictured with Levy on Friday ahead of Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix.

But SunSport understands that the meeting with Levy was NOT related to any potential investment in the football club.

Instead Najafi’s intention is to take a stake in Everton, which could include helping underwrite the cost of their new home in Bramley Moore Dock.

Levy was invited to Bahrain by F1 chiefs after agreeing  to build an indoor circuit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He had previously met Najafi’s business partner Jeff Moorad, a Spurs fan.

Friday, though, is understood to have been the first time Levy had actually met Najafi.

Najafi already has shares in European clubs including Augsburg and Estoril, plus his £300million holding in McLaren through his company MSP Sports Capital.

The revelation that he's interested in the Toffees came as Spurs were also rocked on the pitch.
