Man Utd and Chelsea set for pre-season tour of US with shock friendlies lined up against non-league minnows

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea are set to face non-league side Wrexham during their pre-season tours of America this summer.

The fifth-tier Welsh club were taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds, 46, and Rob McElhenney, 45, two years ago.

And their side are flying high in the National League, sitting in second place with 14 games remaining.

So Wrexham could be back in the Football League come the end of the season when they plan to face Premier League giants Man Utd and Chelsea.

According to , both English giants have been offered games against the Hollywood-infiltrated club.

They have provisionally agreed to play Chelsea at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on July 19.

Then the following week they are seeking a clash with Man Utd at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

The Red Devils have not been in America since Jose Mourinho was in charge in 2018.

Matches against the Premier League titans would further increase the profile of Reynolds and McElhenney's new venture - which was recently the focus of the "Welcome to Wrexham" programme.

And they enjoyed a superb run to the fourth round of the FA Cup where they were eventually eliminated by Sheffield United following a replay.

But it could still be a successful season for Wrexham as they eye promotion back to the fourth tier for the first time in 15 years.

They host Dorking Wanderers at home this weekend as they look to chase down table toppers Notts County.

Wrexham sit five points adrift of Notts with two games in hand.
