Manchester United news: Club open door for Paul Scholes to make Old Trafford return as new Under 23’s manager
Red Devils legend has coached at club since retiring and United are on lookout for a new U23 boss since Warren Joyce became Wigan manager
PAUL SCHOLES could return to Manchester United as their new Under 23 manager.
The Red Devils are reportedly open to the former playing legend returning to Old Trafford, who hung up his boots in 2013 after over 700 games for the club.

United are looking for a new Under 23s manager following Warren Joyce’s move to Wigan Athletic to become their new manager.
And according to the , while they won't actively pursue their former star, they would be happy to speak to him should he declare his intention to apply.
Since Joyce's departure, Scholes' former team-mate Nicky Butt has been in temporary charge - and Butt could look close to home having been charged with finding Joyce's successor along with club secretary John Alexander.

Any decision will be signed off by executive vice chairman Ed Woodward - but the involvement of manager Jose Mourinho is not thought be too great, having more priorities such as his inquest into injuries in the first team.
United are not overly concerned with rushing in to make an appointment - and Scholes' stock could be high given he has previously worked with Butt as joint coach of United Under 19s.
He has also run training sessions at Under 18 and Under 23 level for the club.
Something which could count against him is his outspoken criticism of United during his role as a TV pundit - although that is not thought to be an issue.
Scholes has spoken of his interest at becoming a boss in the future, and has been approached by League One Oldham Athletic - who he is a fan of - to be their manager, which he has turned down.
He does have a stake, along with Butt, Ryan Giggs and the Neville brothers in Salford City, having won 11 Premier League titles and two European Cups alongside his former teammates.
