I’m A Celebrity 2016: Who is Sam Quek, hockey Olympic gold medallist set for the Australian jungle
Team GB hockey star follows Fatima Whitbread, Linford Christie and Rebecca Adlington into the jungle
SAM QUEK is set be the golden girl of series 16 of I’m A Celebrity.
Glam Sam was part of the Team GB side which thrilled the nation when they were crowned Olympic champions in Rio, in August.
Now the Liverpool fan from the Wirral is about to wow the nation again as she slips out of her hockey skirt and into her jungle kit.
The 28-year-old will be the third gold medal winner to appear on the ITV series hosted by Ant and Dec.
She follows 1988 javelin champ Fatima Whitbread, Barcelona 92 100m king Linford Christie and London 2012 400m freestyle swimming heroine Rebecca Adlington.
But none of them managed to take gold in the Aussie jungle.
Whitbread's third in series 11 was the closest any of our Olympic heroes has been to winning the reality TV show.
Team player Quek is rated as one of the best tacklers in world hockey.
But she will now have to tackle a whole host of weird and wonderful challenges without the aid of her trusty hockey stick.
In a video released by her family, Quek shows her physical toughness by performing press-ups with a team-mate lying on top of her.
Once in the jungle, she will have to show her mental strength when competing for food in confined spaces with rats, snakes and her biggest fear spiders crawling all over her 5ft 5ins frame.

The two-and-half minutes long picture reel denies claims Quek was a professional model...
Well you could have fooled us judging by the photo of her seductively leaning against a wall in yellow heels and a swimming costume.
Apparently that was the one and only swimwear shot she did, just before flying off to Rio.
Hopefully, Quek has jetted Down Under with more than just one swimsuit to change into in the sweaty jungle or else those shower scenes made famous by Mylene Klass could become interesting.
Her family may deny the modelling claims but they were happy to admit that one of the reasons people should support Quek on I'm A Celebrity is because she is 'easy on the eye'.
And to support that screamingly obvious claim, they shared screenshots of Tweets by her growing army of online admirers.
No mention of her hockey skills but phrases like 'stunner', 'worldie' and'Bond girl level fit' were used to describe the girl with the golden medal who is set to provide a TV view to a thrill for your eyes only.
This year's I'm A Celebrity is about to prove you can't get fitter than Quek fit fitter.
