And now he is just “weeks away from formally approaching Spurs owner Joe Lewis and the football club’s chair Daniel Levy” with his offer.

Who is Jahm Najafi?

Jahm Najafi is an Iranian-American businessman and multi-sport chairman who is the chair of MSP Sports Capital.

He owns the Najafi Companies - which is a Phoenix-based equity firm and his primary source of income.

Najafi also partially owns the Phoenix Suns NBA team and is vice-chairman of McLaren's F1 team.

He graduated with a Masters in Business Economics from Harvard University.

The 60-year-old has said that supporting the Phoenix Suns helped him learn English.

His family moved to Phoenix when he was 12 years old after they knew someone there.

Najafi said: "Suns were playing against the Celtics and, of course, everybody knows about Gar Heard’s shot heard around the world.
