Manchester United news: Zlatan Ibrahimovic apologises to fans for booking that rules him out of Arsenal match

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has said sorry to Manchester United fans for collecting the yellow card that sees him banned for the Arsenal clash.

The former PSG striker hit a double in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Swansea but the booking he picked up in the second half after a tussle with Leroy Fer has ruled him out of the Gunners game.

Ibrahimovic’s fifth caution of the season means the United ace will miss the Old Trafford showdown in two weeks’ time.

He told MUTV: "In England, the football is hard, it's physical. I just have to accept it. I've got to be professional.

"I'm sorry I am suspended for the next game.

"I wish I wasn't as it's a game I really wanted to play in.

"But I have trust in my team-mates and the team and I know they can do fine also without me."

Ibrahimovic’s double ended a six-game goal drought for the free transfer forward.

But United boss Jose Mourinho insists the Swede has always been making an important contribution to the team.

He told  "I used to say that a striker who doesn’t score goals and does nothing else is one player less.

"But a striker that doesn’t score goals but does everything else is a very important player for the team. He wasn’t scoring goals but he was doing everything else.

"He was working defensively, in the build-up and the second phase of the attack, he was giving assists and contributing towards the goalkeeper that was playing against us always being the man of the match.

"He was doing so many things that I wasn’t worried but today we needed goals and he got them."
