Carlo Ancelotti’s SON Davide ‘in running to become new Everton boss’ to follow in famous father’s footsteps

CARLO ANCELOTTI’S son Davide could be set to follow in his father’s footsteps.

That’s after emerging as a possible frontrunner for the Everton job.

The claims Davide, 33, is one of the top options to replace Frank Lampard at Goodison Park.

He served as dad Ancelotti’s assistant between December 2019 and June 2021.

And Davide is now the icon’s No2 with European champs Real Madrid.

But the Toffees could be set to hand him his first-ever managerial gig as they look to beat the drop.

Club chiefs were impressed by Davide during his brief time on Merseyside.

And they are already drawing up a formal approach despite making Marcelo Bielsa their No 1 target.

The Argentine tactician has been out of work since his Leeds sacking last season.

But he is reluctant to take charge at Everton due to concerns over the quality and speed of the squad.

Bielsa flew in for fresh talks with the Goodison hierarchy today.

Yet there are fears he could end up rejecting the job, with his £6million wage demands also an issue.

That could see Davide move into pole position ahead of ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

Former Toffee chief Sam Allardyce is another on the list, but he and Dyche are only seen as back-up options for now.

Davide would certainly bring a wealth of experience from some of Europe’s top clubs.

He first worked as a coach at Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid before becoming Ancelotti’s assistant at Bayern Munich.

He continued in the role at Napoli and Everton before rejoining Real with his dad.

And Davide even took charge of last season’s match against Celta Vigo when Ancelotti tested positive for Covid.

However, Davide was unable to bark out instructions as he lacked the necessary training licence required by the Spanish Federation.
