Scots football star ‘facing drugs charge’ after being pulled over in car by cops
A FOOTBALLER faces a drugs charge after cops pulled over his motor.
Brechin City striker Botti Biabi, 26, was stopped as he drove through Glasgow at around 2am last Tuesday.
Cops searched his Audi after alleged concerns about how it was driven.
Biabi, who has also played for Swansea City, Falkirk, Hamilton Accies and Kelty Hearts, was then arrested.
A source said: “This is a real shock. It’s the last thing the club needs.”
A police spokesman said: “A 26-year-old man is subject of a report to the fiscal in connection with drugs offences.”
Brechin City confirmed it is investigating but refused to make any further comment.
Biabi played for Brechin in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Lossiemouth in the Highland League.
Meanwhile, a man has been arrested and charged after a break-in at Montrose's Links Park ground.
It comes after officers have released an appeal for information last week following a break-in at the League One outfit's stadium.
Montrose FC had alerted cops after being broken into at some point between 10pm on Thursday and 7.15am last Friday.
The club called police in after allegations that a three-figure sum of money, a cash box, alcohol, mixers and household products were allegedly stolen.
PC Ross McIntyre, of Montrose Police Station, had said: “A green bucket with wheels was also stolen and it is likely those involved used the bucket to remove the stolen items from the building.
"This could potentially have made some noise in the local area."
