Man Utd legend Roy Keane buys Dublin apartment – estimated at £5.7m – in Ireland’s most expensive development

ROY KEANE has reportedly bought in Dublin’s most expensive development with an apartment estimated at £5.7million.

The Manchester United legend purchased a pad in Lansdowne Place, a luxury development on the 6.8-acre site of the former Berkeley Court and Jurys hotels.

Keane, 51, and wife Theresa Doyle at Christmas agreed a deal for a property in the scheme, according to the .

It is claimed to have 215 apartments ranging in price from £722,000 to £5.7m.

Keane is based in Cheshire, where he and his family live in a 9,500sq ft mansion in Hale, but regularly visits Rathpeacon, in Co Cork, where his mum Marie lives.

The Irishman has been married to his wife since 1997 and have five kids and two grandchildren together.

But Keane – who rarely opens up on his personal life – admitted their first date went horribly wrong.

He said on : “It went very badly. We met, I picked her up at the City Ground at Forest and we went for a spin.

“I said to her, ‘Do you fancy going to the pictures?’ Because at least at the pictures you can just watch the movie, you don’t have to chat too much, and she said no!

“She said, ‘No, I went last night with my friends.’ And I said, ‘Well, there are other movies on’.

“I said do you want to go for a drink and she said no… I literally drove back to the car, this was all within 10, 15 minutes and she said, ‘What are you doing?’

“I said, ‘Well you don’t want to go for a drink, you don’t want to go to the pictures, what else can we do?’

“And she got out [of the car], I said, ‘I might see you next week?’

She said, ‘I don’t think so’ and slammed the door. That was our first date and we’re still married!”

Fortunately, the couple rekindled and have been happily together ever since.
