Terry, 35 who has lead the Blues to four Premier League titles was set to leave Stamford Bridge last season when he announced Chelsea has not offered him a new deal. However by the end of the season the defender extended his stay at the club by another year.
Guangzhou were keen to land Terry last summer when it looked like he was on his way out of Chelsea. Any decision on a new deal in west London won't be taken until the new year and the moneybags Chinese outfit managed by former Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari will look to steal a march on any challengers for Terry's signature.
After starting the first four games of the season, Terry is fit again after recovering from an ankle injury suffered in the draw at Swansea in September, but has been unable to force his way back into the starting line up.
Blues boss Antonio Conte is now using his favoured system with David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta as his three centre backs, resulting in four consecutive Premier League wins without conceding a goal.
Guangzhou who recently secured their fifth straight Chinese title are looking to exploit Terry's links with the local area.
The defender was on a tour of the far East in 2015 in his role as an ambassador of football culture for the city.
