A "JOBSWORTH" airport worker faced boos after turning off a TV during the World Cup Final penalty shootout.

Argentina and France played out one of the best finals of all time as a frantic 120 minutes ended 3-3.

It all came down to the dreaded penalty shootout as millions around the world sat on the edge of their seats for the finale.

But some people in one airport missed the spotkicks after a worker chose to switch off the TV in the departure lounge in the middle of the shootout.

One Instagram account shows the moment Aurélien Tchouaméni stepped up to take his kick as the star looked to salvage French hopes after Kingsley Coman's failed to convert.

Despite some people being gripped by the drama in an airport, an employee decides to turn the television to a blank screen.

Groans quickly turned to boos as the defiant staff member marched away while waving away the angry reaction.

The unexpected moment has been seen by thousands on social media and triggered a big reaction.

Multiple people labelled the man who switched off the TV a "jobsworth" while another said he was a "male Karen".

Others saw the lighter side, with one person adding laughing emojis as they wrote: "That 'my workplace my rule' attitude."

Another said: "He prob put his life savings on France to win."

While another person said: "That's how he argues with his Mrs."

Others sided with the airport worker.

One person wrote: "If it's an airport then surely he's in the right to change it. Important information for flights could be missed if the channel was switched to the WC."

Another added: "It's an airport, not a bar."

The airport viewers missed the moment a few seconds later when Tchouaméni put his effort wide and left Les Bleus staring at defeat.

Gonzalo Montiel eventually scored the winning penalty to send Argentina into raptures.

It's the South American country's first World Cup win since Diego Maradona inspired the nation to victory in 1986.

Lionel Messi scored twice and converted his penalty as he capped his tremendous tournament with another inspiring performance.

Meanwhile Kylian Mbappe scored the first World Cup Final hat-trick since Geoff Hurst in 1966 - and converted his shoot-out kick - but still ended up on the losing side.

Argentina are now in party mode with a bank holiday declared and thousands lining the street for a huge national parade as they welcome back their heroes.
