Ince perfect

Ex-Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince is desperate to get another chance at managing in England after turning down move to China

Former Blackburn and MK Dons boss has turned down megabucks offers from Far East as he believes CV is strong enough to land domestic job

PAUL INCE has turned down big-money offers from China as he pursues his dream of managing in England.

The former Blackburn and MK Dons boss believes his CV is strong enough for another shot over here.

It should be enough to get at least an interview at managerless Wolves, where he played for four years.

Ex-England captain Ince said: “It’s not about the money. It’s a case of having a young British manager who wants a chance in this country. Getting that opportunity to show what a manager he is.

“The facts are there and, if you look at my CV, most people would be baffled that I’m not working.

“I know I’m a good manager. I have a 42 per cent win ratio, which is not bad considering the clubs I’ve gone to have not given me a penny to spend.

“I’ve had offers from abroad but I can do that when I’m older. I’ve learnt so much it would be rude of me not to give that to another team in England.”

Having played at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, Liverpool and Inter Milan, Ince has always wanted to share his experience with younger players.

And he is not short of managerial experience either after spells with Macclesfield, MK Dons (twice), Blackburn, Notts County and Blackpool.

Ince says he has a track record of making an impact at clubs — and regrets not having bigger investment to build on what he started.

Helped by his advisor Chris Nathaniel, of NVA Entertainment Group, Ince insists it is a track record that should be looked at by the likes of Wolves’ new owners as they plan to replace Walter Zenga.

He said: “We had a great chance of getting promoted when I went back to MK Dons but then we had sold Jason Puncheon to Southampton for some reason — we worked our butts off, then you are selling.

“What chance have you got? It frustrated me and that seemed to be the cycle of my management career.”

But heading back to Molineux now would be ideal given Ince’s standing at the club.

The ex-midfielder, 49, added: “Before playing for them I was going to retire but there was a fondness there immediately.

“I had an interview after Glenn Hoddle left but, to be fair, Mick McCarthy did a great job there. When he left, I thought it was the perfect time for me again and they went for Terry Connor.

“That was twice I felt I had a big, big chance, so when the opportunity came up again it gives you a buzz.”
