BORUSSIA DORTMUND have dropped more points in the Bundesliga as they continue to find their domestic form falling further behind leaders Bayern Munich as they go four league games without a win.

The game between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke is a derby that many look forward to in Germany but the two struggling sides did little to inspire any enthusiasm in the season's first Ruhr contest.

Mario Gotze came close to breaking the deadlock 18 minutes from time with a left footed shot from six yards out but Schalke keeper Ralf Fahrmann plucked it out from the top left hand corner

With both sides struggling in the Bundesliga Dortmund and Schalke are in desperate need to climb the table to change their domestic fortunes.A poor first half from the hosts saw little creativity with the better chances falling to the visitors as the game became a little scrappy.

Dortmund seemed to struggle in the opening 45 minutes to make an impact and couldn't keep possession in Schalke's half with Franco Di Santo looking dangerous for the away side.

After the break Dortmund started to turn the screw and looked dangerous and all the more likely to take the lead in the match with chances falling to Felix Passlack and Christian Pulisic just in front of the hour mark.
