GARY LINEKER made a silly gaffe when introducing a segment on BBC as he got his Diers and Dyers muddled.
During the coverage of France's round of 16 game against Poland in the World Cup, the BBC showed a short film of Eric Dier and Jordan Pickford reacting to previous England games.
It was centered around the round of 16 games and looking at how they contributed to England's success against Colombia at that stage of the tournament in 2018.
However, Lineker introduced the show by saying: "Ahead of, Kelly Somers has been speaking to two heroes of a famous last sixteen match in 2018 Kieron Dyer and Jordan Pickford."
He had clearly made the simple mistake based on the player's similar surnames.
While Eric Dier still plays for England, Kieron Dyer has retired from football and has not played internationally since 2007.

After the feature, Lineker apologised for the gaff and played it off cooly with a clever play on words.
He said: "Still gets me that game and that is probably why I called him Kieron and nor Eric.
"A Dier mistake," which earned a couple of chuckles from his co-pundits.
Since retiring from player Dyer has taken up coaching and was working at Ipswich Town.
