From the grounds
SunSport's Dan King reports live from the Lusail Stadium.
"Absolute scenes here as a journalist, calm as you like, comes back into press box with what can only be plastic pint pots of beer for him and his mate.
"Portugal are certainly worth toasting so far.
"How's your luck - or judgement - Fernando Santos?
"Drop the man most people in the crowd came to see and give a first international start to a 21 year old.
"And Goncalo Ramos rewards his boss' faith with a dirty, dirty finish.
"It all started from a quick throw in by Raphael Guerreiro. Joao Felix gathered it, slipped it to Ramos who was on the half turn and took the ball beyond Fabian Schar before absolutely smashing it in at the near post.
"Ronaldo has never scored in the World Cup knockout stages. Ramos did it inside 17 minutes.
"It's not been a completely barren night for Portugal living legends, though.
"After Schar nodded a dangerous cross away from Ramos, Bruno Fernandes swung in a delicious corner and there was Pepe, leaping like a spring lamb rather than an old goat, to head the ball explosively past poor Yann Sommer.
"Pepe will be 40 in February and made his comeback from a knee injury as a substitute in Porto's last game before the World Cup. Ronaldo still had enough in his legs to join the frenzied celebrations.
"The Swiss rarely got out of neutral. The closest they came was when Diogo Costa made a mess of a cross by former West Ham player Edmilson Fernandes. Remo Freuler, part of Nottingham Forest's summer trolley dash, headed limply towards goal and Diogo Dalot cleared in true Peter Kay style.
"Xherdan Shaqiri also sent a long-range free kick narrowly wide, but Costa had it covered.
"Murat Yakin's side have offered little and are being outplayed.
"Felix is playing like a dream, Otavio is everywhere and Portugal look like a side well capable of winning not only this game but the whole tournament."
