Chelsea ‘WON’T let Romelu Lukaku extend Inter Milan loan transfer by another year as they fear being left out of pocket’

CHELSEA will not let Romelu Lukaku extend his loan spell at Inter Milan beyond this season, according to reports.

Lukaku signed for the Blues back in 2021 for a fee of £97.5million from Inter but soon after arriving the striker made it clear he regretted the transfer.

And the Belgian was loaned back out to the Italian side for this season after a disappoiting year at Chelsea.

Lukaku hopes to stay at the club for longer than just this campaign and there was supposedly talks between the two clubs about making the loan deal last longer.

However Chelsea have changed their mind and they now do not want to loan him out again, claim outlet .

Chairman Todd Boehly has reportedly looked at the numbers and fears the club could lose loads of money if they let the 29-year-old leave temporarily again.

Instead Chelsea want to sell him on a permanent basis in order to recoup some of the huge fee they paid for him.

It is unclear whether Inter Milan can afford to sign him in the summer as they reportedly planned to buy him in 2024.

The ex-Manchester United star's contract does not expire until 2026 at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has played just five times for Inter this season scoring two goals as he has struggled to overcome multiple injuries.

He is also expected to miss Belgium's opening two games of the World Cup with a thigh problem.

Manager Roberto Martinez could be without him for ties against Canada and Morocco.

Across his two spells at the San Siro, Lukaku has played for the club 100 times netting on 66 ocassions winning the Serie A once.
