McGregor, 33, has been cast in the film alongside movie star Jake Gyllenhaal, although his role is not yet known.

He brought his fiancee, Dee Devlin, and three kids along with him for what amounted to a pseudo-family holiday.

His presence was marked by the country's President, Luis Abinader Corona.

This was on show in a post on Instagram, in which it was revealed that McGregor had been gifted a set of Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars.

A box of 20 can fetch up to an eye-watering €1,100, with McGregor responding in his Instagram Story, saying: "Thank you President" alongside the Dominican Republic flag and a shamrock.

Their visit was prolonged by the touchdown of Hurrican Fiona in the country.

He had been meant to return to the Emerald Isle for the Bellator 285 card in Dublin.

But the Crumlin-native was stranded on the Caribbean island due to Hurricane Fiona as flights were cancelled due to the weather.

McGregor also learned that acting is not all fun and games, glitz and glamour, as he suffered a sore looking injury during filming.

Earlier this month, he revealed the injury in a post on Instagram, in which he showed off his bloodied and battered hand.

He took it in his stride, writing alongside the post: "This Roadhouse is mine".

Gyllenhaal responded to the post with a hands up emoji to signal 'good times'.

A UFC return for The Notorious is expected in early 2023.

McGregor hasn't graced the octagon since he broke his leg in the conclusion of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier last summer.
