MANCHESTER United footballer Mason Greenwood is due before a court today on a rape charge after two nights in a police cell.
The striker, 21, was arrested early on Saturday for allegedly breaching his bail conditions.
He was later charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Greenwood, who has made one appearance for England, is due to appear at Manchester and Salford magistrates’ court this morning.
He was arrested at his home in Trafford, Manchester, at 7am after he was pictured last week with his alleged victim in his £150,000 Audi R8 car in Bowdon, Cheshire.
, who earns £75,000 a week, was suspended by United following his January arrest after a woman alleged on social media he had raped and assaulted her.

A club statement on Saturday night said: “Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service.
“He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process.”
