MANCHESTER UNITED came out 2-0 victors over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Despite a dominant first-half, the Red Devils failed to take their chances as Hugo Lloris denied Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes with a couple of brilliant saves.

United's opener came just minutes after the break as Fred's deflected strike left Lloris rooted as Old Trafford erupted before Fernandes added a second with a fantastic curling striker.

The Portugal international thought he had a second, sitting Lloris down before finishing but the flag was up for offside.

Fernandes' international teammate and unused substitute Cristiano Ronaldo then stormed down the tunnel before the full-time whistle was blown.

  • Ten Hag a fan of 'fabulous' Conte

Erik ten Hag has admitted that, despite Conte not knowing much about him, he is a huge fan of the Italian.

When asked about his opposing manager, Ten Hag didn't hold back with praise for the former Inter boss, giving a glowing review of the Spurs head coach.

He said: “He’s a fabulous manager, winning titles, trophies in the Premier League, Italy and you can really see his signature in the match from his team. That’s a big compliment I think.”

Ten Hag will be hoping that he can get the better of Conte as Spurs come to town.

  • Conte believes Ten Hag 'needs time' at Manchester United

Antonio Conte has delivered his verdict on Erik ten Hag's Man United side but admitted that he didn't know much about the manager before his appointment.

When asked about Ten Hag, Conte said: “Honestly I don’t know him very well because we have never played against (each other).

"He did very well with Ajax and for sure he has taken a great job for United because United is one of the best teams in the world.

“He is trying to bring his ideas into the pitch, and I think also the club back him in the transfer market. Like other managers and coaches, he needs time to work and to try to improve his team.”

  • Kulusevski a doubt as Moura could start

Dejan Kulusevski is a doubt for the match, with Conte telling reporters on Monday: "Kulusevski is working. We will see.

"We have to go day by day with him and the medical department are working a lot to try to recover him, but we don't know for the game against United."

Spurs will also be without Richarlison, who is suffering a calf injury so could see Lucas Moura brought into the attack tasked with getting a result in Manchester.

  • Good afternoon from Old Trafford

Welcome to the live coverage of today's Premier League clash between fifth placed Manchester United and third placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping that his side can break down Antonio Conte's Spurs at Old Trafford, having been shut out against Newcastle in a 0-0 draw on the weekend.

Spurs, on the other hand, will be looking to build on their back-to-back wins against Brighton and Everton as they attempt to put the pressure on top-of-the-table Arsenal.

It could be a tough task for Conte's side to come away with three points tonight as the Red Devils have already claimed scalps over Liverpool and Arsenal at Old Trafford this season.

United fans will set their minds back to their 3-2 victory in the fixture last season, where a Cristiano Ronaldo hattrick sunk the visitors.

The Red Devils will be hoping to replicate the result and put the pressure on the teams in the top four.
