‘I woke up angry’ – Brentford ace Ivan Toney shares sickening racist abuse he was sent on Twitter after Brighton heroics

IVAN TONEY has tweeted an image of sickening racist abuse sent to him in an online message.

The sender refers to the Brentford striker as a 'Black c***' in the DM sent at 9.46pm yesterday.

The timing means Toney would have received the message shortly after inspiring the Bees to a 2-0 home win over Brighton.

The 26-year-old scored both goals to help move Thomas Frank's side up to eighth in the Prem.

Toney of the abuse at 9.48am this morning.

He added the wording: "I wasn’t even going to post this but I woke up angry…"

Brentford released a statement condemning the abuse this morning and making it clear any "attack on one of our players is an attack on all of us".

It says: "Ivan will receive the full backing from the club and from the Brentford fans, who we have already seen condemning the abuse.

"We expect strong support from the police, legal authorities and from Instagram's parent company, Meta, to ensure that the individual involved faces the full force of the law for this despicable hate crime."

have since reported the Metropolitan Police have sent a message to Toney today and asked him to get in touch about the incident.
