Fans had been alarmed by the official Spurs website claiming their next game is postponed

Spurs face the Portuguese side on Tuesday in the Champions League.

Eagle-eyed supporters had spotted their website had been claiming the game was off just 48 hours before kick-off.

This follows the weekend’s matches in England being postponed after the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

As suspected the announcement was a “technical error” and Tottenham have confirmed the match is going ahead as planned.

Thousands have booked flights and match tickets for the European game in Portugal.

The error had caused concern for fans as the news spread online.

One Spurs fan on Twitter wrote of the postponement claim: “This is legit on the site, unclear if an error or true. Fans need to know asap either way as sure loads flying tomorrow.”

“With no official update on social media from The Club or UEFA, we are unsure whether this is a mistake or legitimate information.”

Another concerned fan site wrote: “Can you let us know what’s happening @SpursOfficial?”

The tweeter adds that they are “flying in the morning”

Tottenham have an allocation of just over 2,500 fans for the game, with tickets costing £34.

Spurs won their first Champions League game of the season against Marseille courtesy of two goals from Richarlison.

Meanwhile, Rangers have announced that their Champions League game with Napoli at Ibrox this week has been pushed back 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The club said this is due to limitations on “policing resources” and “organisational challenges” related to the Queen’s passing.
