California's Ferguson makes his UFC return in the welterweight division after not having fought in 170lbs class since winning TUF back in 2011.

'El Cucuy' was speaking with media in Las Vegas ahead of the fight at T-Mobile Arena when he was asked about a potential match against Irish megastar Conor McGregor.

The pair have both constantly be linked to fight one another but it has never materialised.

And McGregor is currently sidelined after the horrid leg break he sustained in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier last year.

Ferguson dismissed the Dubliner as he claimed that he is the best to ever fight in the UFC.

The Ultimate Fighter season 13 winner said when referring to McGregor: ";McNuggets - he lost his sauce.

"GOATS [Greatest of all time] come and go but BOATS staying floating - I'm a BOAT - I'm the best of all time.

"That's a title that's not gonna go anywhere, I'm always gonna be the f****** champ. No ones going to do what I've done for this sport."

Ferguson says he's more than content with what he has done for the sport of MMA.

He mentioned his fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 249, and how he and promotion brought back sport to the world during the global pandemic.

UFC held the first major sporting event with Ferguson's fight against Chandler in May 2020.

The WME-IMG owned fight promotion held fight cards throughout the worst stages of the pandemic as they set a global benchmark on how to stage cards amid a global crisis as TV ratings soared in the USA.

He added: "I brought back sports for the world, and that took a lot of balls. It took team work - from my management, Dana [White] and a just anybody who was in that for the last - that three days trying to figure out what we were going to do.

"And to see that and from where we are now - we're paving the way for everybody - everybody loves this sport, and I'm very glad that they do. We train f***** hard man in this sport.

"I can't saying anything about pro boxing because I'm not a pro boxer but I see them training just as hard. And if you're in a high level competitive sport, you better love that s***, and you better figure out what you want to do; and I've got what I want to do.
