Dest ‘chooses Man Utd over Villarreal’ but loan transfer in doubt with Ten Hag and board split over Barcelona right-back
SERGINO DEST has reportedly chosen to join Manchester United with new boss Erik ten Hag keen to seal a transfer - but the board is split on the move.
The American right-back, 21, is surplus to requirements at Barcelona and could be allowed to leave the Camp Nou permanently or on loan.
Spanish side Villarreal submitted a loan proposal, but there are concerns over whether they will be able to pay Dest's salary.
Man Utd are also interested in signing the pacey full-back, who worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.
And according to , Dest has chosen to join Man Utd if they can agree terms with Barca.
Such a move would allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka to leave the club with West Ham and former club Crystal Palace keen on acquiring his services.

However, reports there is some reluctance within the club to let Wan-Bissaka leave - which could hinder United's chances on signing Dest.
Wan-Bissaka joined Man Utd three years ago for £50m.
The right-back has made 127 appearances for the club but has found himself benched this season.
Wan-Bissaka has played once in the Premier League, with that appearance coming in the 2-1 win over Liverpool.
