First choice keeper David De Gea is claimed to be unsuited to the Dutchman's preferred style of play, so United officials have been scouting someone who is comfortable playing out from the back.

And according to , Trapp has emerged as a priority target.

Man Utd have already made an offer for the 32-year-old, who was part of Eintracht Frankfurt's Europa League-winning squad.

It's currently unclear how much the offer was worth or whether the bid will be successful.

Trapp may also decide to reject the move if he is not promised regular first-team football at Old Trafford - something that he is guaranteed at Frankfurt.

The goalkeeper joined the Bundesliga side on a permanent basis in 2019 - one year after a season-long loan spell at the Waldstadion.

He has since made 261 appearances for Frankfurt and kept 59 clean sheets.

Ten Hag could bring in Trapp to REPLACE De Gea, who has experienced a disastrous start to the Premier League campaign, as United's No1.
