Ronaldo has been knocked back repeatedly this summer, with Chelsea ending their pursuit of him last month despite new owner Todd Boehly holding talks with his agent Jorge Mendes.

Bayern Munich were touted as another possible destination, however club CEO Oliver Kahn insisted that he doesn't fit their philosophy.

Paris Saint-Germain also turned down the chance to nab him where he could have been part of a formidable attack alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Meanwhile former employers Real Madrid aren't keen on a reunion, and their rivals Atletico have ruled out a transfer for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

Sporting Lisbon had been desperate to bring the player back to Portugal, but it is understood Ronaldo isn't interested by the switch.

His hopes of leaving United is thought to have rested on Bundesliga outfit Dortmund, who he would have been open to join.

But according to , that door has been closed with the German club unwilling to secure his services.

They have stated that the ex-Juventus ace would have jumped at the chance to make the move to Signal Iduna Park and experience a new league.

However Dortmund feel that he is too old for them, and his astronomical wages have put them off a potential deal.

The news outlet claims that Ronaldo pockets £24.6million-a-year, which works out to around £473k-per-week.

In addition to his demands, BVB already have Anthony Modeste to rely on up top having brought him in following Sebastian Haller's testicular tumour diagnosis.

And it has been said that boss Edin Terzic is keen to give more game time to 17-year-old sensation Youssoufa Moukoko.

Ronaldo revealed earlier this week that his future will be confirmed in an interview in two weeks time.

He wrote on Instagram: “They know the truth when they interview in couple of weeks. The media is telling lies.

"I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 of them were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip."
