Liverpool in blow with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for up to THREE MONTHS until October in another huge injury setback

LIVERPOOL'S Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered another injury blow which could rule him out of action until October.

The England midfielder has now learned his rehab timescale after picking up a hamstring problem in last month's pre-season friendly with Crystal Palace.

It is the latest injury blow for the 28-year-old who has an eye-catchingly long list of knocks with the Reds and former club Arsenal.

Over the past eight years, the Ox has been repeatedly sidelined with problems to his groin, hamstrings, muscles, thighs and ankles.

That is not to mention the serious knee ligament damage which has restricted him to 94 appearances for the Merseysiders since joining from the Gunners five years ago.

It is also likely he would have many more than his 35 caps and seven international goals had he been luckier with injuries.

Oxlade-Chamberlain went down with a hamstring injury on the stroke of half time and immediately asked to be replaced.

While on the deck, he punch the turf in frustration as he faced the prospect of another injury lay-off.

The Ox is in the final year of his contract and was desperate to impress Red boss Jurgen Klopp after falling out of favour in the second half of last season.

Ahead of Saturday's Community Shield win over Manchester City, : "With Oxlade, it will take longer. It's a serious hamstring injury and it will take longer.

"It's a hamstring, we all hate this word, we hate the injury, but it happens from time to time and now Ox was the one.

"Does he need an operation? No."
