English cyclist in tears after winning race for bronze only for Commonwealth Games chiefs to say she WON’T get medal
ENGLISH para-cyclist Sophie Unwin couldn't hold back the tears after bungling Commonwealth Games chiefs told her she would NOT be getting a bronze medal.
The 28-year-old visually impaired athlete finished third in the women’s tandem B sprint.

But after a late withdrawal in the event, which left just four nations competing, only gold and silver medals were on offer.
Cycling chiefs still let the bronze medal race between England and Scotland go ahead.
The race was won by Unwin, who was piloted by Georgia Holt, and the England cyclist was then listed as bronze winner on the result sheets.
Unwin was also listed as the bronze medal winner on the official Commonwealth Games website.

Officials told Unwin and Holt to cut their interviews after the race short to head to the podium.
Unwin was then reduced to tears after being told she had in fact NOT won a medal
They tried to photobomb the ceremony as Australia’s Jessica Gallagher and Scotland’s Aileen McGlynn collected gold and silver respectively.
Officials moved them on from the back of the podium as they posed with an England flag.

Unwin and Holt later reappeared with bronze medals that had reportedly been lent to them by the England women’s team pursuit squad.
They managed to step onto the podium and pose for photos after the gold and silver medal ceremony had ended.
