Man Utd in huge Antony transfer blow as Ajax RAISE price tag to £84MILLION with Dutch side having no interest in selling

MANCHESTER UNITED’S hopes of signing Antony have suffered a huge blow after Ajax reportedly raised their asking price to a whopping £84million.

The Red Devils are desperate to land the Brazilian attacker, who excelled under Erik ten Hag last season, and have been linked with him all summer.

Ajax told United chiefs that Antony would cost them £67million and links subsequently went cold.

Having already sold a host of players, including Lisandro Martinez to Old Trafford, Ajax are hoping to keep their current squad as it is going into the new season.

And now claims that they have now raised his price tag in order to thwart off any interest.

He says that the Dutch giants will now only do business if they receive an offer that is worth a mega £84m in total.

He tweeted: “Ajax have RAISED the price tag for Antony from €80M to €100M including bonuses!

“The Brazilian winger would like to get his dream transfer but Ajax have NO desire to sell another player.”

The Eredivisie side have raised around £100m this summer by selling Martinez, Ryan Gravenberch, Sebastien Haller and Nicolas Tagliafico.

They have been active themselves, splashing out on Steven Bergwijn, Calvin Bassey, Brian Brobbey, Owen Wijndal and Francisco Conceicao.

But United may need to fork out on a forward themselves, should Cristiano Ronaldo leave.

The Portuguese veteran finally returned to Carrington for talks yesterday and was there from 10.45am until 5pm.
