Euro 2022: ‘Unbelievable England boss Sarina Wiegman can FINALLY end Lionesses’ major trophy hoodoo, says Jordan Nobbs

JORDAN NOBBS believes England have got what it takes to finally get their hands on a first major trophy.

The England and Arsenal star, 29, was left reeling when the Lionesses lost the World Cup semi-finals in 2015.

Nobbs was also on the losing side in the last four against Holland in the Euros five-years ago.

She then suffered an ACL injury and was working as a pundit when they crashed out of another semi-final at the 2019 France World Cup.

But Sarina Wiegman’s side are out to put things right when they play in front of another sold-out stadium at Bramall Lane in their semi-final against Sweden.

Nobbs, who missed out on a spot in the 2022 Euros squad after picking up another knee injury in May, said: “Of course I see them going all the way. Sarina is unbelievable with the team and when you’re around her you can feel exactly what direction the team is going in.”

England are unbeaten in 18 games under their brilliant Dutch boss and Nobbs said: “Anyone can start a game now.

“Everyone has seen that she has shown over the last year how incredible she has been for the team and how much we’ve all been working together for that end goal.”

There is a wonderful feeling of belief and momentum currently behind Wiegman’s side who have enjoyed a red-hot run to the last four.

The Lionesses smashed in 14 goals in the group stage and conceded zero before beating Spain 2-1 in a dramatic quarter-final last time out.

Midfielder Nobbs, who has 67 caps, added: “I know from a team environment they will be taking it game by game.

“They won’t be talking about that gold medal at the end because we haven’t won it before so we don’t know what that feels like.

“But from an outside perspective, the way they are playing and the way they have performed with the strength and depth of the team is unbelievable.

“It is not just the starting 11 but the subs Sarina has been able to put on and influence the game. It’s just an amazing place for them to be in.”
