Marcus Rashford reveals advice from Erik ten Hag that’s rejuvenated Man Utd star and fellow forwards Martial and Sancho

MARCUS RASHFORD has credited Erik ten Hag for getting him firing on all cylinders after the Manchester United boss encouraged his players to "be positive".

The 24-year-old struggled last season after missing the start of the campaign due to injury - which saw him dropped by England.

But in four pre-season games under Ten Hag, Rashford already has two goals to his name.

The United forward has looked resurgent under the Dutchman, as have team-mates Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial.

Sancho has scored three after a poor debut campaign at Old Trafford and Martial also has three in four playing up top following his dismal loan spell with Sevilla.

And Rashford has hailed Ten Hag's positive approach as one of the reasons he is starting to feel like he is getting back to his best.

Discussing the gaffer, Rashford told PA news agency: "He just wants us to be positive.

"He wants us to do everything in a positive manner, so for us it means a lot of forward runs, a lot of interchanging positions, trying to link with each other on the ball.

"It's fun to play in, we're enjoying it, so hopefully we can kick on and perform these type of performances come the season."

Local lad Rashford also spoke on the benefit of having a full pre-season under his belt.

A shoulder injury last year meant he went under the knife following England's Euro 2020 final defeat, and did not play for United until October.

This time around Rashford has had perfect preparation for the new Prem campaign, something the forward considers "priceless".

He said: "I feel fit, I feel strong and we've come out of the trip without any injuries.

"For us, it's definitely a positive thing to have a fully-fit squad ready to start the season. For me personally, it's priceless to have the pre-season that I've had.

"Sometimes I don't really take as much note of it because usually we're playing games in the summer and stuff like that, so the next season sort of just rolls on to the previous season.

"But this year I've had time to break, rest, recover mentally and physically, and then I've had a proper pre-season. I feel really happy. I'm pleased that I managed to do that."

The Red Devils have racked up three victories in four pre-season games so far, with yesterday's draw against Aston Villa the only blot on Ten Hag's copybook.

A clash with Atletico Madrid in Oslo awaits next week before a home game against Rayo Vallecano in what will be Ten Hag's first home game.
