Jadon Sancho backed to finally come good at Man Utd with Erik ten Hag’s transfer business hailed by Lee Sharpe
MANCHESTER UNITED hero Lee Sharpe has backed Jadon Sancho to be a "great player" under Erik ten Hag.
Three-time Premier League winner Sharpe reckons Sancho, 22, will come good after struggling to settle following his £73million move from Borussia Dortmund last year.
Sancho's poor form at club level saw him fall out of favour under England boss Gareth Southgate.
But Sharpe, speaking on behalf of , said: "It was a little bit unfortunate for him last season, he came in as a big signing, we knew the club had been chasing him for a year or two at least.
"To come in with a big price tag, and to come in to a team that was struggling a little bit and under huge pressure, I don’t think the tempo of the team was high enough for Sancho to produce his best.
"He’s got unbelievable ability, great feet, good decision making, can score goals as well as create them. He’s got an amazing gift and I think he’s going to be a great player for United."

Sharpe, 51, believes United will get the best out of Sancho when the talented forward is at his confident, marauding best.
After only scoring five goals last season Sancho already has two strikes in pre-season, suggesting his fortunes have turned.
Sharpe added: "He needs a little bit of confidence, a little bit of a run in the team. I know he had a little bit of an injury problem last year which wouldn’t have helped.
"And it looks like this year the manager is going to have the team playing a little bit of a higher tempo football, a little bit higher up the pitch which I think will suit his game as well."

Sharpe also praised Manchester United for their transfer business under new gaffer Ten Hag.
After a slow start to the transfer window, United have announced the signings of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez.
Ten Hag has also confirmed the club remain in the market to sign a forward.
And while the Frenkie de Jong transfer saga rumbles on, Sharpe admitted he would "love" to see the midfielder sign for the club.
Sharpe said on Ten Hag: "I think he’s bought well. I think (Christian) Eriksen has bought a touch of class, a lot of experience.
"I think the left-back they’ve bought will get Luke Shaw on his toes. I still think Luke Shaw on his day is one of the best left-backs in the world, but he just needs that pushing and bit of extra motivation."
"(Lisandro) Martinez I think will be a great signing, the manager will know him well. A bit of a ball-playing centre-back which will obviously keep (Harry) Maguire and the rest of the lads on their toes.
"I think we’ll probably see one or two of the centre-halves maybe leave as well.

"And (Frenkie) De Jong, I’d love to see De Jong at the club. But that seems to be the longest running saga I’ve seen for a while, so we’ll see where that pans out."
