According to , the French giants allegedly approached City in recent weeks.

They are supposedly looking to try and offload the world's most expensive footballer this summer - despite him activating a clause in his contract to tie him down until 2027.

However, there was no deal to be struck with City who have kept their focus on recruiting young talent - rather than the 30-year-old Neymar.

City have snapped up Erling Haaland, Kalvin Philipps and Julian Alvarez in the current transfer window, as well as selling Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling.

Silva, too, has been linked with an exit as Barcelona pushed to secure a deal.

But Pep Guardiola is desperate to keep hold of the Portuguese playmaker who was one of his standout players in the title-winning campaign last season.

Now the ex-Monaco star looks on course to stay put at the Etihad into a sixth year and aim to add to his stunning haul of nine trophies.

Neymar is currently in Japan with his PSG team-mates.

They have headed out for a ten-day pre-season tour in the Far East as they get to work under new boss Christophe Galtier.

And Galtier made it clear, despite links with Chelsea and Manchester United, he wants the £600,000-a-week superstar to stay at the Parc des Princes.

He said in his first press conference after replacing Mauricio Pochettino: "He’s one of the best in the world.

"What coach wouldn’t want to have him? I’ve a very clear idea of what I’ll expect from him.

"Of course I want him to stay."
