Cardiff City set to appoint Neil Warnock as manager after Paul Trollope is sacked just FIVE months into job
Owner Vincent Tan turns to veteran former QPR and Crystal Palace boss to keep Bluebirds in the Championship
NEIL WARNOCK is set to be named Cardiff boss tomorrow.
The Bluebirds have moved swiftly after swinging the axe on Paul Trollope today following a disastrous spell in charge.
And wily Warnock is the man they have picked over Ryan Giggs as the Welsh club seek an experienced boss to lift them out of the drop zone.
The 67-year-old, who has won SEVEN promotions during a 26-year managerial career, has been out of the game since leaving Rotherham at the end of last season.
He worked miracles to rescue the Millers from almost certain relegation but walked away in the summer.
And now he will return to take charge of his FIFTEENTH club, having most recently bossed the likes of QPR, Leeds and Crystal Palace.
The highlight of the Yorkshireman's career was an eight-year spell at Sheffield United where he led his boyhood club to the Premier League in 2006.
However he resigned a year later as the Blades were relegated, finishing 18th below a Carlos Tevez-inspired West Ham.
Although a qualified referee, he has been known for his outbursts against officials and opposition managers alike over the years.
Warnock reaffirmed his reputation as one of the top managers in the second tier by guiding QPR to the Championship title in 2011.
A disappointing run of Premier League results then led to him being sacked in January the following year and replaced by Mark Hughes.
Outgoing Bluebirds boss Trollope was a shock appointment in the summer having not managed a club since quitting Bristol Rovers in 2010.
He had worked as a coach with Wales during their historic Euro 2016 campaign which led to him taking charge at the Cardiff City stadium.
But a poor run of just two wins in 11 league games saw fit for Vincent Tan to axe the former Fulham midfielder after less than five months at the helm.
Assistant coach Lennie Lawrence and performance director Ryland Morgans have also left the club.
